What a curl reducer does
A curl reducer relaxes the curl pattern by a controlled amount. Tight curl becomes looser wave; wave becomes smoother and easier to blow dry. The treated hair stays that way until it grows out.
Who it suits
It suits naturally curly, wavy or frizzy hair that you'd like to manage more easily, especially in Joburg's summer humidity. Bev will check your hair's condition and colour history first, as some coloured or lightened hair needs a gentler approach.
Aftercare
Wait 48 hours before washing or tying your hair up. Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner, and book a regular treatment to keep the hair soft. Regrowth can be treated in 3 to 4 months.
What happens in your appointment
- Hair and scalp check, and a strand test if needed.
- Curl reducer applied section by section.

Questions about curl reducer
Will my hair be completely straight?
No. A curl reducer softens the curl rather than making hair flat and straight.
Can I have it on coloured hair?
Often yes, but Bev will check first and may adjust the strength or timing.
How long does it last?
The treated hair stays smoother until it grows out. Most clients redo the regrowth every 3 to 4 months.
